Dunque, vuoi imparare l’italiano.
So, you want to learn Italian.
If you’ve dreamed of learning or perfecting the Italian language by GOING TO ITALY, this exciting collaboration with The Chattanooga School of Language and Ibla Italian Language School is made for you. By the end of this trip, your Italian will be fantastico and your belly will be full of food that is more than just molto buono.
The why. I visited Sicily for the first time in 2003 and fell in love - I’ve lived there and continued to visit the island at various times over the past 10+ years and I am dying to share it with YOU. Not only will you get to see some of the most historically significant places in Italy but you’ll get to eat what I swear to my Sicily-loving heart is THE. BEST. food in Italy.
The benefits. You’ll get the benefit of traveling with people who speak Italian and know Sicily. Plus, we’ve planned everything for you. All you need to do is find yourself in Catania on April 16th and we’ll take it from there (for the next 8 nights).
The itinerary. Come study Italian, fall in love with Sicily, participate in lively dinner conversations (in italiano, of course!), and enjoy all the gelato you can handle.
If you’re thinking a group trip isn’t for you - think again. We keep things small and open our trips to only 10 guests. This means no giant tour bus and no ball-cap-wearing-guide wielding an embarrassing umbrella and headset.
Day 1 Make your way to Catania and we’ll whisk you away to the charming hilltop town of Ragusa Ibla and our home for the next six nights. We’ll have an early welcome meal and then you can focus on fighting off jetlag.
Day 2 We jump right into Italian class this morning, followed by a casual tasting lunch of local products just around the corner at an adorable family-run salumeria. The afternoon is yours to explore Ragusa, catch up on sleep, or put your Italian skills to work! We’ll meet back up for dinner and Italian conversation at a nearby restaurant.
Day 3 We’re back for day two of Italian class this morning. In the afternoon, we’ll visit nearby Modica for lunch and a tour and tasting at one of their most famous chocolatiers. We’ll head back to Ragusa for a free evening.
Day 4 Enjoy a leisurely Sicilian Sunday morning, attend Italian mass or sleep in! In the afternoon we’ll enjoy a cooking class taught by an actual Sicilian nonna at her family’s gorgeous country home.
Day 5 Italian class di nuovo [again] this morning and in the afternoon we’ll check out the tiny coastal town of Punta Secca. If you’re a fan of the Italian miniseries Il Commissario Montalbano aired by BBC, you’ll know this place well as Montalbano’s hometown!
Day 6 Today is our final Italian class, so be sure to make it count! Join us for lunch, then the rest of the day is yours to enjoy every last inch of magical Ragusa Ibla.
Day 7 This morning we’ll make our way to the tiny island of Ortigia just off the coast of the city of Siracusa. On the way we’ll stop in Noto to check out its gorgeous Baroque architecture and gelato at a little place called Caffe Sicilia (featured on Netflix’s Chef’s Table). After we check-in to our new digs, we’ll enjoy a walking tour of this unique little isola and enjoy a pizza dinner at our favorite pizzeria with stunning views of Ortigia’s duomo.
Day 8 Enjoy a visit to the bustling market in Ortigia and have a fabulous lunch at one of our favorite open-air market eateries. The afternoon is yours to soak in every last ounce of Sicilian magic (and maybe buy those last few souvenirs) before we say arrivederci at our farewell dinner.
Day 9 Enjoy one last caffe with us and we’ll get you back to the Catania airport to begin making the journey home!
Who's in charge here?
I am! I'm Sarah Cate, owner of Sicily South.

Our knack for hospitality and insider knowledge combined with the expertise of local providers is our secret sauce.
I'll be the one to accompany you on our Italian immersion adventure!
This special Italian Immersion trip is in collaboration with the Chattanooga School of Language.
Since its inception in 2011, the Chattanooga School of Language has been built upon the values of cultural and linguistic diversity, inclusion, community, connection and respect.
CSL firmly believes in the life-changing effects of knowing another language and culture.
There is no better way to put your language skills to the ultimate test than to immerse yourself in a country where the road signs, menus and newspapers are in the language you're studying.
CSL travel immersion programs give young adults and adults the opportunity to experience true language and cultural immersion by attending language class at a language school, taking part in cultural excursions, living like the locals do, and more!

"Sicily South planned one of the best trips we've ever taken. Every day contained the perfect balance of activity, food/wine tasting, and leisure. We felt so well taken care of and were exposed to all the hidden jewels of Sicily, with a group that felt like family by the end of the trip."
We also can't guarantee you have a good time. That one's on you!
But we'll let Adam Sandler & SNL handle this one:
